Shariah Compliant Investing Department 

What we aim 

To increase awareness among all students regarding the shariah rules of investing to exceed the boundaries of religion in investment.

What we do 

We manage a portfolio of shariah compliant investments using fundamental analysis while enlisting and training students in the art of value investing and the application of fundamental analysis as well as promoting a general understanding of the shariah rules of investing among students.

What we achieved  

The department is to be established in July 2018

What is this   

Shariah-compliant investing is the act of investing in companies that are compliant with shariah (the Islamic rules), taking into account substance and activities that are considered forbidden in Islam.

 

There are 3 rules that a company must comply in order to be considered a shariah compliant company. 

1.The ratio of the income earned by a company from forbidden activities to the total income earned by a company should be less than 5%

 

2. the ratio of cash held in bank to total assets must be less than 33%

 

3.the ratio of  debt to total assets must be less than 33% in order for a company to be considered a shariah compliant company.
